Periodic lift inspection: what building managers need to know

A practical guide for building managers and owners: how to prepare for the periodic inspection and what to do once the certificate is issued.

Periodic lift inspection is mandatory for every building with a lift in operation. Here are the key steps for a smooth process.

Before the inspection

  • Coordinate with your maintainer. The inspection must be carried out in their presence, so the date is agreed with them.
  • Have the lift’s details ready, along with any previous certificates or technical documents.
  • Submit a request through the online application to receive a quote.

On the day

A METRON CERT engineer carries out the inspection on site, in the presence of the maintainer, in line with the applicable regulatory framework.

After the inspection

Once the inspection is successfully completed, the Certificate of Fitness is issued. The owner must then register the lift with the relevant municipality.
